Bringing local folk tales to life through children's narrative digital storytelling and inclusive language practices
This article focuses on a case study from a primary school in Cyprus, which was part of a research project, ‘Mythical Creatures and European Folk Tales’, run in partnership with the Fairy Tale Museum in Cyprus and universities in Luxembourg and the UK. The project created spaces for young people to transform local folk tales into multilingual digital stories. The aims of the project were to: connect children with their cultural heritage and oral traditions of telling tales; develop children's imagination and love of stories; embrace children's literacies across languages and language varieties; and make creative use of digital technology.
