Study finds rise in veteran suicidal thoughts, not attempts
Veterans in the United States are reporting significantly higher rates of suicidal thoughts than they did five years ago, according to a new Yale School of Medicine and Department of Veterans Affairs study. Researchers found that the prevalence of suicidal ideation among veterans increased sharply between 2019–2020 and 2025–2026, even as rates of suicide planning and attempts remained largely unchanged.
