*Hormonal Dysregulation and Psychological Stress*
This review paper explores the relationship between hormonal dysregulation and psychological stress, mood, and behavior. It examines how physiological, infectious, environmental, and dietary factors contribute to endocrine and neurotransmitter imbalance. The review covers the effects of severe sleep deprivation, respiratory infections, typhoid fever, menstrual cycle changes, uterine cramps, radiation and heat exposure, peptic ulcer, gastritis, acid-reducing medications, carbonated drinks, spicy food, caffeine and coffee intake, and chronic pain. It focuses on the role of key hormones and neurotransmitters including cortisol, melatonin, serotonin, dopamine, estrogen, progesterone, prostaglandins, adrenaline, and noradrenaline, and discusses the involvement of the HPA axis, systemic inflammation, and the gut-brain axis in stress-related mood disorders.
