Ecological‐Friendly LaS: PrS 1.7 : Gd 2 S 3 Made From Dithiocarbamate Precursors: A Step Forward in High‐Performance Supercapacitors Efficiency

ABSTRACT The growing need for effective and maintainable charge‐storing devices for the production of environmentally sound electrode substances. In the present study, a chalcogenide semiconducting nanomaterial LaS: PrS 1.7 : Gd 2 S 3 has been produced by a single route using diethylthiocarbamate ligand. The prepared nanocomposite showed a 3.79 eV band gap and possesses extraordinary photoactive property owing to its strong light absorption. Crystallographic study via X‐ray diffractometry analysis displayed numerous crystal phases with an average crystallite size of about 33.86 nm. Functional group analysis using infrared spectroscopic technique elucidates the existence of metal‐sulfide linkages (LaS: PrS 1.7 : Gd 2 S 3 ) in the range of 521–977 cm −1 of wavenumber. The surface topography of the prepared nanocomplex displayed unique morphology with multiple active sites to carry out electrochemical (redox) reactions. The electrochemical evaluation, employing a standard three‐electrode system verified a specific capacitance of about 989.49 Fg −1 and a power density of 10156.69 W kg −1 and one of the electrochemical tests evaluated a low series resistance of 0.65 Ω. The calculated results indicate that the prepared material LaS: PrS 1.7 : Gd 2 S 3 is a good choice for energy storage devices such as next‐generation supercapacitors.
