Solvent-free Knoevenagel condensation in 1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-8-antracenyl-BODIPY
A fast, solvent-free Knoevenagel condensation for BODIPY dyes is reported. The reaction proceeds in 2 minutes at 205 °C using piperidine and acetic acid, without solvent. A series of aldehydes with varying substituents was tested, affording mono- and disubstituted products. The method offers a simple, versatile alternative to conventional approaches, enabling rapid tuning of BODIPY properties.
