Ethnopsychological Studies of Coping Behavior and an Ethnoportrait of Russian Coping

Contemporary reality is characterized by a high degree of uncertainty, stress, and dynamism. Global challenges, social transformations, technological progress, and interpersonal complexities compel individuals to constantly adapt and overcome emerging difficulties. In today's highly uncertain and dynamic environment, research into the mechanisms of coping behavior is of paramount importance. The aim of this paper is to analyze ethnopsychological studies of coping behavior with an emphasis on developing an "ethnoportrait of Russian coping." The theoretical and methodological foundations of studying coping in a cross-cultural context are examined, highlighting key factors influencing intercultural differences (individualism/collectivism, cultural values, language, socioeconomic and political conditions). Particular attention is given to the specific features of Russian ethnopsychology (collectivism, a sense of justice, a tendency toward deep emotional experiences, paternalism) and their influence on the development of coping strategies. It is suggested that Russian coping is characterized by a high degree of emotionally focused strategies, a need for social support, flexibility, adaptability, and a tendency toward reflection and the search for deeper meaning in stressful situations. The study emphasizes the importance of taking cultural specifics into account for the development of effective psychological support programs and the improvement of intercultural interaction.
