A Microstructural Spacetime Model Based on Density-Driven Internal Contraction
This paper presents a novel perspective on the fundamental structure of spacetime, reimagining it as a dynamic, internally contractive lattice with topological interconnections. Unlike the classical view of spacetime as a smooth manifold shaped externally by mass and energy, we propose that spacetime is composed of discrete volumetric cells—microscopic units linked by wormhole-like topological bridges. As energy density rises, these volumetric cells contract, locally compressing spacetime and transmitting structural changes across the lattice. This model, termed Density-Driven Internal Contraction (DDIC), reproduces standard general relativity in the appropriate weak-field limit, consistent with solar-system tests to the precision required by current observational bounds. We derive an exact identity relating the model's topological connectivity tensor to the ordinary stress-energy tensor, and use it to obtain a parameter-free mechanism, based on a system's ratio to its own Jeans length, that yields a specific, falsifiable prediction for galactic dark matter effects and offers a qualitative account of several independent astrophysical tensions (JWST high-redshift galaxy formation, star-formation efficiency, the neutron-star/black-hole mass gap). Separately, the model's discrete lattice structure yields two genuinely lattice-specific predictions inaccessible to any continuum theory: a quadratic Lorentz-violation coefficient with distinctive directional (anisotropic) structure, and a scalar gravitational-wave polarization amplitude within reach of near-term detector sensitivity. We relate DDIC's core mechanism to prior emergent-spacetime and elastic-vacuum models (Sakharov, 1967; Volovik, 2003), situating it within an established tradition while identifying its specific points of departure.
