H ∞ intermittent event-triggered load frequency security output feedback control of multi-area power systems

In this paper, an H∞ intermittent event-triggered load frequency security output feedback control scheme is designed to address the security control problem of multi-area power systems (MAPSs) under denial-of-service (DoS) attacks and disturbances. The proposed method integrates intermittent control and event-triggered mechanisms to reduce control costs and communication burdens. Furthermore, this strategy employs an output feedback design, requiring only a limited number of sensors and actuators for implementation. Under DoS attacks, an intermittent event-triggered transmission scheme is developed, where control actions are triggered solely when the system output deviates from the predefined threshold or meets specific event conditions within the operating interval. First, the MAPSs are subsequently modelled as closed-loop switched systems via intermittent event-triggered load frequency security output feedback control. Then, by constructing a switched Lyapunov functional, sufficient conditions based on linear matrix inequalities are established to ensure that the MAPSs are exponentially stable while satisfying the H∞ performance. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed H∞ intermittent event-triggered load frequency security output feedback control strategy are verified through comparative simulations on three-area power systems subject to disturbances and DoS attacks.
