Hydrogen permeation in Li@g-C 3 N 4 doped polymer blend nanocomposite membranes

This study aims to investigate the permeation of hydrogen in polymer-based nanocomposite membrane materials i.e pure polystyrene (PS) and polysulfone (PSF) polymeric membrane and blend of PS-PSF polymer membrane. In particular ratio of 20:80 and doping of novel category of material Li@g-C 3 N 4 (10% Lithium doped graphitic carbon nitride) in blend polymeric membrane at 3wt% and 10wt% have been prepared by solution casting method. The permeability measurement was observed at room temperature at constant pressure of 30 psi. Structural properties of these membranes were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal properties were analyzed using Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC). Optical properties of these polymeric membranes have been carried out by the UV-Visible Spectroscopy. Comparison of hydrogen gas permeability in blend and their nanocomposite membrane is reported. The permeability measurement of hydrogen indicates that the doping of Li@g-C 3 N 4 nanofiller have shown relatively higher permeability as compared to that of the pure polymer membranes.
