The Impact of Using Podcast on Improving Iraqi Preparatory School Students’ Listening Skills

The aims of the present study is finding out the Impact of Using Podcast on Improving Iraqi Preparatory School Students' Listening Skills. The population of the current study is (502) students who represents the students of the fourth grade secondary/preparatory classes in Al-khlais city during the academic year 2025-2026.From this population, (44) students were taken as sample for this research with distribution of ( 22) students in experiment class and ( 22) students in control class. The samples were taken by using cluster random sampling, quasi-experimental method with the pretest and post-test for both experimental and control groups design is being implemented in this study. The experimental group performed better than the control group in the post-test (M = 66.27 vs M = 52.59;t = 4.626, p < 0.05) with a large effect size (Cohen's d = 1.41).Results of ANOVA showed significant differences between listening sub-types (F = 17.580, η² = 0.401), with selective listening improving the most (M=18.909),extensive listening improving the least (M=8.727).This study recommends that teachers incorporate podcasts into listening lessons as an effective technologyenhanced learning method.
