Stability of nonlinear recovery from scattering and modified scattering maps

Abstract We prove stability estimates for the recovery of the nonlinearity from the scattering or modified scattering map for one-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equations. We consider nonlinearities of the form <m:math xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <m:mrow> <m:mi>a</m:mi> <m:mo>⁢</m:mo> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">(</m:mo> <m:mi>x</m:mi> <m:mo stretchy="false">)</m:mo> </m:mrow> <m:mo>⁢</m:mo> <m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">|</m:mo> <m:mi>u</m:mi> <m:mo stretchy="false">|</m:mo> </m:mrow> <m:mi>p</m:mi> </m:msup> <m:mo>⁢</m:mo> <m:mi>u</m:mi> </m:mrow> </m:math> {a(x)|u|^{p}u} for <m:math xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <m:mrow> <m:mi>p</m:mi> <m:mo>∈</m:mo> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">[</m:mo> <m:mn>2</m:mn> <m:mo>,</m:mo> <m:mn>4</m:mn> <m:mo stretchy="false">]</m:mo> </m:mrow> </m:mrow> </m:math> {p\in[2,4]} and <m:math xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <m:mrow> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">[</m:mo> <m:mrow> <m:mn>1</m:mn> <m:mo>+</m:mo> <m:mrow> <m:mi>a</m:mi> <m:mo>⁢</m:mo> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">(</m:mo> <m:mi>x</m:mi> <m:mo stretchy="false">)</m:mo> </m:mrow> </m:mrow> </m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">]</m:mo> </m:mrow> <m:mo>⁢</m:mo> <m:msup> <m:mrow> <m:mo stretchy="false">|</m:mo> <m:mi>u</m:mi> <m:mo stretchy="false">|</m:mo> </m:mrow> <m:mn>2</m:mn> </m:msup> <m:mo>⁢</m:mo> <m:mi>u</m:mi> </m:mrow> </m:math> {[1+a(x)]|u|^{2}u} , where a is a localized function.
