Virtual Cranial Reconstruction of the Oldest Human Remains of Frankfurt am Main-Fechenheim
A considerable challenge in palaeoanthropology is the handling of fragmented and sensitive human remains, which provide an important source of information about the identity of humans in the past. Virtual reconstructions have facilitated the extraction of these information and can be applied in various fields. By using computed tomography and advanced computer software, the virtual reconstruction of a subadult Neolithic skull from Frankfurt am Main-Fechenheim, Germany, is presented in this study. In combination with a revised age estimation, the reconstruction provides new data for future comparative analyses of one of the oldest preserved human skeletons of Frankfurt city area.
