Chemical Transformations of Adamantan-2-ylidenemalonic Acid and Its Derivatives

Abstract The acylation behavior of several nucleophiles with adamantan-2-ylidenemalonic acid dichloride was investigated. The reactivity of adamantan-2-ylidenemalonic acid and its derivatives toward reducing systems was examined. A skeletal rearrangement of adamantan-2-ylidenemalonic acid in liquid bromine was revealed, affording bromolactones possessing a protoadamantane framework.
