Mass Transport and Water Management in Scale-up CO2 Electrolysis

In the field of electrochemical CO₂ reduction, scale-up is an effective strategy for improving economic viability. However, as the size of electrolyzers increases, mass transfer limitations and water management challenges become increasingly severe, resulting in compromised system performance and operational stability. This study aims to address these issues by improving mass transfer and water management, thereby providing valuable insights and guidance for the commercial deployment of CO2 electrolysis technologies.

Abstract

In the field of electrochemical CO₂ reduction, scale-up is an effective strategy for improving economic viability. However, as the size of electrolyzers increases, mass transfer limitations and water management challenges become increasingly severe, resulting in compromised system performance and operational stability. This study aims to address these issues by improving mass transfer and water management, thereby providing valuable insights and guidance for the commercial deployment of CO2 electrolysis technologies.
