Functional Characterization of P1 Splice Variants in Colorectal Cancer Progression
Alternative splicing (AS) is a critical driver of proteomic diversity in colorectal cancer (CRC). This project investigates the functional impact of specific P1 splice variants on CRC tumorigenesis. We hypothesize that a splicing switch favoring the oncogenic P1-isoform promotes tumor progression by enhancing cell proliferation and metastatic potential. Utilizing patient-derived tissues and CRC models, we will characterize the expression landscape of P1 variants and validate their biological functions through gain- and loss-of-function assays. Furthermore, we will dissect the regulatory mechanisms governing P1 splicing. This study aims to establish the P1 isoform ratio as a novel prognostic biomarker and a potential therapeutic target for precision medicine in CRC.
