HIOF • Information Compatibility Principle II: Thermodynamics - Paper IV
Holographic Information Ontology Framework · Information Compatibility Principle II: Thermodynamics The HIOF·ICP II Thermodynamics Series is an eight-paper conceptual framework that reinterprets classical and non-equilibrium thermodynamic phenomena through a single polarity: information compatibility versus incompatibility. Rather than treating heat, temperature, work, entropy, dissipative structures, phase transitions, and the arrow of time as separate postulates, the series derives them as observable consequences of how information is aligned, exchanged, or fails to align. Thermodynamics is positioned as the phenomenology of compatibility at the observable level, not as a foundational ontology. The series explicitly distinguishes itself from both standard physical theories and speculative Theories of Everything. It does not replace statistical mechanics, general relativity, quantum theory, or stellar physics. It offers a unified interpretive language that reads these domains through the same dynamical operations — vortex (persistence), synchronisation (exchange), and fusion (emergence of new individuals) — together with two accompanying principles: informational non-destruction (immortality of inscribed information) and injury-entropy (the irreversible cost of successful alignment). A central methodological commitment runs through all eight papers: every claim is graded by testability (A / B / C). The majority of the series is currently graded C (interpretive re-description). Only two narrow directions — resonance capture probabilities and possible corrections to decoherence rates — are identified as potentially promotable toward genuine falsifiability, and neither has yet been formalised. Series Structure Paper Title Core Content 1 Principles: Compatibility and the Generation of Thermodynamic Phenomena Compatibility / incompatibility as fundamental polarity; heat, temperature, work, entropy, equilibrium, dissipative structures, phase transitions, and the arrow of time derived from this polarity; three dynamical operations (vortex, synchronisation, fusion); non-destruction and injury-entropy 2 Phenomena Correspondence Cross-scale illustrations: black-hole mergers, Earth–Moon tidal locking, supernova-to-life arc, living systems as dissipative structures 3 Macroscopic Rotation (I) Spin, orbital motion, ellipticity, and field formation as spatial forms of persistence and exchange 4 Macroscopic Rotation (II) Angular-momentum conservation, precession, resonance locking, and an honest open-problem status for galaxy rotation curves 5 Microscopic Rotation Spin, one-turn versus two-turn closure, phase paths; explicit boundary with L1 / CosmoBeating (main-tone left unreduced) 6 Field Boundaries as the site where fields are divided and incompatibility is generated; geological, solar, auroral, and quantum-decoherence illustrations 7 Verification Systematic A/B/C grading of Papers 3–6; identification of the only two near-formalizable directions 8 Final Limits Statement Series-wide version boundary, residual weaknesses, and the requirement that further progress must be formal, not narrative Keywords information compatibility; thermodynamics; dissipative structures; entropy; non-destruction; injury-entropy; vortex; synchronisation; fusion; macroscopic rotation; microscopic spin; field boundary; decoherence; conceptual ontology; HIOF; ICP Related Series HIOF·OIMRO (Open Informational Metabolic Realization Ontology) — supplies the L1/L2/L3 architecture and the injection–realisation–dissipation–recovery cycle referenced but not restated in this series. Earlier HIOF·ICP papers and CosmoBeating / main-tone discussions remain outside the formal scope of the present thermodynamics series.
