PFUSRC-118B On the Systemic Value of the Discrete Line Segment Concept——The Fourfold Transition and Bridge Positioning

PFUSRC-118, On Discrete Line Segments, accomplished the conceptual transition of the “line segment” from geometric object to topological record. As a supplementary value statement to PFUSRC-118, this paper further elaborates the fourfold structural transition triggered by the introduction of this concept: Integration, Cognitive Upgrade, Practical Upgrade, and Cognitive Bridge. This paper demonstrates that the Discrete Line Segment is not a negation of the traditional continuous line segment, but rather a topological integration of its valid achievements. It simultaneously accomplishes a dual upgrade at the cognitive level (from geometric object to topological record) and the practical level (from area extremum to anchor-point counting). As a triple bridge connecting continuity and discreteness, geometry and topology, mathematics and physics, it fundamentally thaws the entrenched assumption that continuity must serve as the default premise. This paper establishes that the Discrete Line Segment is the pivotal concept in the PFUSRC mathematical ontological reconstruction project—connecting upward to the problem repositioning of PFUSRC-117 and downward to the quantitative implementation of PFUSRC-119, serving as the nodal hub of cognitive thaw.
