Synthesis and investigation of luminescent properties of near-ultraviolet excitable oxy-borate phosphor Ca 4 YO(BO 3 ) 3 :RE 3+ (RE = Eu, Tb)
In the fast progress of modern edge cutting technology of optoelectronics devices, luminescent material plays a vital role. In this near-ultraviolet excitable oxy-borate phosphor doped with Eu3+ and Tb3+ is highly meaningful for phosphor converted white-light-emitting diode and solid state display devices. In this work Ca4YO(BO3)3 calcium yttrium oxy-borate (CYOB) phosphor with different doping concentration of Eu3+ and Tb3+ was synthesized by solution combustion technique. The crystal structure, phase formation, surface morphology, functional and luminescence properties such as photoluminescence excitation (PLE) and emission (PL) spectra of the prepared phosphor were characterized and analyzed by XRD, SEM, FTIR and Spectro-flurometer respectively. Under 394 nm excitation, the Ca4YO(BO3)3:Eu3+ phosphor exhibited several emission peaks in the wavelength region of 550–650 nm due to 5D0→7FJ (J = 0, 1, 2) transition of Eu3+ with prominent peak at 612 nm, the CIE coordinates (x = 0.67,y = 0.33) indicates that the prepared phosphor have high color purity for red gametes. The synthesized phosphor with Eu3+ effectively excited at near visible radiation and produce red emission, the obtained results suggest that the material can employ in phosphor converted white light (PC-WLEDs). The Ca4YO(BO3)3:Tb3+ emits efficient green emission at 541 nm due to magnetic-dipole transition 5D4→7F5 phosphor when excited at NUV of 261 nm, which is useful in light emitting display devices.
