COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN HUMANS & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN DETECTING DEFECTIVE FACILITIES IN COMMERCIAL BUILDING STRUCTURES (CASE STUDY: GIDA DUBU HOUSING ESTATE, BAUCHI)

This paper compared virile efforts of humans and artificial intelligence (AI) in detecting defective facilities in commercial building structures in the study area. To compare the virile efforts of humans and AI in detecting defective facilities in commercial building structures in the study area; to suggest ways of improving the efforts of AI in detecting defective facilities in commercial building structures in the study area. Mixed research was adopted with case study approach and stratified sampling was also used. Descriptive statistics and correlation technique were used in analysing the data. According to the survey, 150 respondents representing 37.5% strongly agree that AI respond to command and instructions more prominently than humans. In addition, 145 respondents representing 36.25% strongly agree that AI performance to defect detection surpassed that of humans. Similarly, 140 respondents representing 35% agree that AI execute instructions in facilities of commercial structures more than humans. Likewise, 170 respondents representing 42.5% strongly agree that AI supervision in construction firms exceeded that of humans. Equally, 180 respondents representing 45% strongly agree that performance of AI in recording activities in commercial building structures in the study area exceeded that of humans. Also, 160 respondents representing 40% agree that AI keep record of activities in commercial building structures in the study area more precisely than humans. The significance (2) tailed value ranges from 0.000 – 1.000., there is statistically significant difference between the means of the variables compared. The values of the means of the variables of AI and humans compared shows that there is statistically highly significant difference between the AI and humans. The significant 2 tailed value of artificial intelligence is 0.000 which yielded t – value 18.815 showing statistically highly significant difference between AI and humans. The significant 2 tailed value of performance of AI and humans to defect detection in facilities of commercial building structures in the study area is 0.000 which yielded t – value 16.180 showing statistically highly significant difference. Performance of AI is higher and more significant than the performance of humans in defect detection in facilities of commercial building structures in the study area. The study concludes that AI detect defects in facilities of commercial building structures more precisely and significantly than humans. It is recommended that contractors, stakeholders and government agencies to give prominence to AI especially in detection of defects in building structures.
