Ontological Integrity in Symbolic Systems: A DOG–ROSE–VerseCloud Convergence
Version 2.0 — From Proposal to Practice. Version 1.0 (July 2025) proposed a convergent ontology for intelligent systems across Disruption-Oriented Graphs (DOGs), the Reference Ontology of Security Engineering (ROSE), and the Verse-Cloud symbolic architecture, introducing symbolic mass as a measure of meaning density and ontological integrity as the unifying affordance, with technical depth via SHACL templates and a triadic structure aligning risk, ethics, and symbolic coherence. Version 2.0 revisits the framework one year on, in the light of practice. It replaces the prospective validation section with validation evidence from two real systems: the Oak Curriculum Ontology (Oak National Academy's national-scale curriculum knowledge graph, independently built on the RDF/SKOS/OWL/SHACL stack Version 1.0 specified for symbolic containment) and the NEO Curriculum Vault (a working institutional symbolic architecture with a documented cross-ontology anchoring scheme). It adds a regulatory-convergence analysis mapping Version 1.0's ontology classes to their 2026 operational forms in compliance architecture for child-facing and edge AI (EU AI Act, KCSIE 2026, UK Online Safety Act 2023, NIST AI RMF), drawing on the author's intervening publications. The revision reports candidly where practice pushed back: the framework's containment machinery matured into practice faster than its measurement programme, and the operationalisation of symbolic mass is stated as the outstanding research debt. Appendices A–D (DOG2Verse schema, ROSECloud classes, SHACL containment templates, verse-aware DOGLog queries) are carried forward unchanged; a revised glossary and a new appendix documenting the nc_ref cross-ontology anchoring pattern are added. The licence is corrected to CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 consistently in document and record.
