Probabilistic Seismic Stability Analysis of Pile Reinforced Slope Using Modified Pseudo Dynamic Method Based on Modified Response Surfaces Approach

ABSTRACT This paper proposes a modified methodology for evaluating the seismic stability of pile‐reinforced slopes by coupling the modified pseudo‐dynamic method with multiple modified response surfaces based on the Hassan and Wolff method. The proposed framework is applied to a homogeneous soil slope to compare traditional response surface functions with the modified response surface method and to determine the optimal pile design parameters. The comparison between the modified and traditional response surface predictions demonstrates that the proposed method provides a more accurate estimation of the factor of safety when uncertainties in seismic motion parameters and soil properties are considered. Furthermore, the failure probability assessment using the modified response surface functions for both the single sliding surface and the Hassan and Wolff approaches indicates that accounting for the variability of the critical sliding surface can capture a broader range of potential failure scenarios.
