Adverse food reactions in dogs and cats. Part 2: diagnosis and management
The diagnosis of adverse food reactions in dogs and cats can be time consuming, and the elimination diet trial remains the only reliable test. Adherence to elimination diet trial recommendations can be variable, so it is vital to create a plan that is feasible for both the client and the patient and to ensure that clients are supported throughout the trial period. Ultimately, a successful diet trial will reveal all significant allergens that lead to clinical signs for the patient. However, there are many common pitfalls that can lead to a perceived failure of the trial.
