Glottocatalepsy and the Linguistic Ecosystem: Two Concepts for Analysing the Gap Between Institutional Recognition and Budgetary Provision for France's Regional Languages

This research note introduces and defines two concepts developed in the course of ongoing doctoral research on the gap between the institutional recognition of France's regional languages and their incorporation into public budgets: glottocatalepsy and a budget-oriented understanding of the linguistic ecosystem. Its purpose is to establish their definitions; the empirical findings on which they are based are presented in the thesis and in publications currently under review.
