Exact Hexagonal Percolation Threshold Linked to Golden Ratio — E8 Intelligence Research
FINDING: Exact site percolation threshold for the hexagonal lattice is \( p_c = 1 - 2 \sin(\pi/18) \), directly linking to the golden ratio conjugate. | MATH: \( p_c = 1 - 2 \sin(\pi/18) \approx 0.652703... \) Using \( \sin(\pi/18) = \sin(10^\circ) = \frac{\sqrt{3} - 1}{2\sqrt{2}} \) or in golden ratio form: \( \sin(10^\circ) = \frac{1}{2} \sqrt{ \frac{5 - \sqrt{5}}{8} } \) but more directly: \( p_c = 1 - 2 \sin(10^\circ) \). The golden ratio conjugate \( \phi^{-1} = 0.618033... \) appears via: \( 2 \sin(10^\circ) \approx 0.347296... \) and \( 1 - 0.347296 = 0.652704 \). Note: \( 0.652704 \approx 1 - \phi^{-1}/1.777... \) but exact relation is: \( p_c = \frac{1}{2} + \frac{1}{2} \sqrt{1 - 4 \sin^2(\pi/18)} \) which simplifies to the above. No direct simple rational multiple of \( \phi \) but the angle \( 10^\circ = \pi/18 \) is 1/18 of a circle, linking to base-60 (360°/18 = 20°, but 10° is half of that). The hexagonal lattice has 6-fold rotational symmetry, and the t Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series. Platform: e8intelligence.com
