Two-particle Azimuthal Correlations and Double Nuclear Modification Factor in High-energy Heavy-ion Collisions

The finer details of jet quenching in high-energy heavy-ion collisions are analyzed within the framework of the HYDJET++ model using the double nuclear modification factor. This factor is studied for various types of final-state hadrons and different two-particle azimuthal configurations. The results show that the factorization of double nuclear modification factor holds almost exactly when the two final particles originate from different jets, but it breaks down noticeably when they come from a single jet, assuming that the effect of double parton scattering is negligible. The significant deviation of the ratio of the double nuclear modification factor and the product of single nuclear modification factors from unity in the case of back-to-back particle configurations can be interpreted as the result of double parton scattering effects.
