Conceptualization and initial evaluation of a self-friendship questionnaire
This study aims to conceptualize and initially evaluate self-friendship as a psychological precondition for the art of living. Self-friendship is defined as a relational mode of self-relation comprising self-attention, self-acceptance, self-orientation, and self-guidance. Items were developed deductively and inductively, evaluated by experts, and will be refined through cognitive pretests. The questionnaire will then be examined in two independent German-speaking adult online samples. The first sample will be used for item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and initial validation using art of living and well-being; the second will be used for confirmatory factor analysis and validation against mindfulness, self-compassion, psychological flexibility, self-regulation, and self-reflection. Research questions concern factorial structure, item quality, reliability, factor-structure stability, and construct validity.
