Density correlation and volumetric properties of quinoline-xylene binary mixtures using Jouyban-Acree and Redlich-Kister models

Density data for binary mixtures of quinoline with xylene isomers, covering the entire mole fraction range at 303–318 K, were obtained from the literature and used to develop density correlations and compute volumetric properties. Two independent modelling routes were employed: the Jouyban-Acree model, which correlates mixture density as a function of mole fraction and temperature using a single temperature-independent parameter set, and the Redlich-Kister equation, fitted to excess molar volumes (VE) derived from experimental densities and subsequently used to estimate mixture densities. Both routes gave %AARD values below 0.31% across all systems and temperatures, with the Redlich-Kister route slightly outperforming the Jouyban-Acree model. VE values were predominantly negative for all three systems, indicating volume contraction from attractive intermolecular interactions and efficient packing of unlike molecules. Partial molar volumes, apparent molar volumes, partial molar volumes at infinite dilution and excess partial molar volumes were also derived from the Redlich-Kister parameters.
