Effects of Internal Springs on Stability of a Pretwisted Rotating Sandwich Beam in Parametric Vibration

This paper presents a comprehensive stability analysis of a pre-twisted, rotating, perforated, and tapered sandwich beam subjected to a pulsating compressive axial load. The study incorporates the effects of spring stiffness, spring mass, hole diameters, taper parameters, temperature parameters which are crucial in high-speed rotating systems. The governing equations are derived using Hamilton’s principle and solved using an appropriate numerical technique. The influence of key parameters such as taper ratio, perforation size and distribution, rotational speed, and pre-twist angle on the dynamic stability boundaries is systematically investigated. Results reveal that perforations significantly alter stiffness characteristics, while tapering and pre-twist influence stability in a nontrivial manner. The findings provide valuable insights for the design and optimization of advanced engineering structures, such as turbine blades, helicopter rotors, and aerospace components, where stability under dynamic loading is critical.
