Switching from sulphasalazine or oral 5-aminosalicylic acid to another oral 5-aminosalicylic acid drug in the maintenance of remission in ulcerative colitis
OBJECTIVES: This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows: To assess the probability of failure to maintain clinical remission, endoscopic remission, or both, following a switch from SASP or oral 5-ASA drug (comparator) to another oral 5-ASA drug (experimental) in adult ulcerative colitis patients at 52 weeks of follow-up. The intervention of switching to the experimental drug will be compared to the continuation of the comparator drug. To assess the safety of switching from SASP or oral 5-ASA to another oral 5-ASA drug in the aforementioned population.
