Study on the Migration Resistance of Polyester Polyol D1050 in NR/BR Rubber Composites
Small‐molecule additives such as antioxidants and aromatic oils are widely used in rubber compounds to enhance performance. After prolonged storage or service, they migrate outward, forming a blue iridescent bloom on surfaces. This spoils visual quality, depletes functional additives and degrades the rubber's overall mechanical properties. Therefore, addressing the issue of additive migration and discoloration is imperative to meet the increasing demands for rubber product performance. A study investigated the migration resistance of antioxidant 4020 by partially replacing treated distillate aromatic extract (TDAE) with the migration‐resistant high‐molecular‐weight plasticizer D1050. The effects on the migration rate of antioxidant 4020 were examined, along with the impact on rubber's appearance quality, mechanical properties, migration resistance, and aging resistance. Results indicate that co‐using 7 phr D1050 minimizes TDAE dosage while achieving maximum sustained‐release effect. The migration rate of antioxidant 4020 decreased by 21.27%, and the aging coefficient K increased by 18.5%. Due to its superior migration resistance, its efficacy persists longer in ozone aging durability tests without causing excessive blooming accumulation. Within the range of compound formulations containing D1050 and TDAE, the mechanical properties of the rubber remained essentially unchanged. D1050 enhanced its resistance to ozone aging.
