The Pharmacist's Cipher II: Status Report and Partial Retraction
This is a status report on "The Pharmacist's Cipher II" (v1.2, March 2026), not a revised edition of it. Four months of further work have falsified or superseded substantial parts of that report, and this document assesses it section by section so that a reader can tell which findings are still load-bearing. Retracted: the therapeutic-class system (P-CALM / K-EXCIT / T-PROT / F-ABORT), superseded by a two-by-two-by-three factorization of process domains; all seventeen botanical identifications, together with the chromatic code and the Bax retrodiction test that depended on them; the cardinal solvent reading of the Nine-Rosettes folio f85r, falsified by a direct measurement of the west band on two independent transcribers with a pre-declared direction (Fisher odds ratio 4.78, p = 0.0004); and the operational reading of f86v4. Retained, in several cases in reformulated terms: the segmentation claims, the distributional complementarity between ornate and bench characters, the verbal paradigms, the falsification register, and the epistemological framework. Of the 39 registered predictions, 7 are retained, 5 reformulated, 13 retracted, 12 dormant, and 2 executed. Among the executed is P38, which declared that a paleographic catalogue of the gallows variants did not exist and was a necessary precondition for testing the framework. That catalogue has since been built (twelve canonical variants, 6,143 traced glyphs) and has produced a finding the original framework could not have reached: the variant grade is a third information channel, carried at the level of the individual occurrence and invisible to any transcription alphabet that collapses the variants. The original v1.2 report is included unaltered as the second file in this record.
