“Pelagianism Redivivus? No! A Response to Roberto J. De La Noval”

This article responds to recent claims that the “free will theodicy” for hell either equals or entails the heresy of Pelagianism while also amounting to a denial of divine omnipotence and the doctrine of creation out of nothing. I challenge such claims. Employing both historical and conceptual analysis, I demonstrate that such charges are unfounded.

Abstract

This article responds to recent claims that the “free will theodicy” for hell either equals or entails the heresy of Pelagianism while also amounting to a denial of divine omnipotence and the doctrine of creation out of nothing. I challenge such claims. Employing both historical and conceptual analysis, I demonstrate that such charges are unfounded.
