Report on the 2026 INES Workshop, 23 January 2026

On 23 January 2026, the International Network for Engineering Studies (INES) convened a virtual workshop highlighting recent engineering studies scholarship and brainstorming future directions for the field. The event consisted of three sessions: paper talks and Q&A with the winner and runners-up for the 2025 INES paper prize; 3-minute lightning talks from INES community members; and an informal discussion on outcomes from the October 2024 INES workshop. Here, we report observations from the workshop and articulate visions of the future of INES from engineering studies community members.
