Socio-Legal and Psychological Conditions of Street Vendors : A Human Right Persepective Anamika Patel* Dr. Shailesh Kumar Singh** Now a days, the number of street vendors are increasing day by day. The aim of the study is to find out the socio-legal and the psychological conditions of street vendors and the modes of risks or encountering problems for employment of the street vendors in India. Their contributions are unfortunately hardly ever recognized by governments. Instead, the government are more often than not hostile to them. This study aims to examine the socio-legal and psychological conditions of street vendors, with a particular focus on the risks and challenges they encounter in their pursuit of livelihood. The research seeks to explore the complex dynamics of their work environment, legal status, mental well-being, and the broader implications of governmental attitudes and policies towards their existence. The street vendors belong to the unorganised sector which constitutes many areas and we can also say that they are the backbone of the economy of any country. But still they are not considered to be an integral part of the society. Short poem by Rabindranath Tagore on a Street Vendors: On the road, they set up their humble stalls, selling dreams and hopes, as the city calls. Their voices rise, their spirits never pall, In every bargain, a story they enthrall. *Research Scholar, Department of Law, DDU University, Gorakhpur, UP. **Assistant Professor, DDU Gorakhpur University, Uttar Pradesh
