A Reproducible Conformance Benchmark for EDF/EDF+/BDF Physiological Signal Software
This is a pre-results study protocol and pre-analysis plan. This manuscript proposes a reproducible conformance benchmark for evaluating software support for EDF, EDF+, and BDF physiological signal file formats. The study is designed to construct a controlled fixture suite covering valid files, boundary cases, malformed headers, annotation edge cases, signal scaling behavior, record-duration issues, and cross-reader inconsistencies. The goal is to provide a transparent framework for comparing biomedical signal file readers and identifying areas where implementations diverge from expected format behavior. The manuscript does not report completed empirical findings. It defines the benchmark design, evaluation criteria, planned parser comparisons, reproducibility practices, and analysis strategy for a future empirical study.
