Analysis of Proposals for Reforming the World Trade Organization

This repository contains the documentary dataset used in the research developed by the GV20 Extension Group, an academic research and extension initiative jointly hosted by the Center for Geoeconomics of Trade and Investment (FGV EESP), holder of the WTO Chair Programme in Brazil, and the Global Law and Development Center (FGV Direito SP). The project is coordinated by Professor Michelle Ratton Sanchez-Badin and Professor Vera Thorstensen, under the academic supervision of Dr. Catherine Rebouças Mota, with research assistance provided by the master's students Lucas Vinícius dos Santos-Macêdo and José Vitor Pereira Neto. The dataset comprises official documentary sources collected from the World Trade Organization (WTO) Documents Online database, including communications submitted by WTO Members and regional groups concerning the ongoing WTO reform process. These primary documents were systematically organized and analyzed through qualitative content analysis and comparative assessment to identify key themes, institutional positions, and reform trends between 2021 and the first quarter of 2026. The research forms part of the FAPESP-funded project "National Policies as Drivers of Foreign Investment: An Analysis of the Regulations Governing Brazil-China Economic Relations" (Grant No. 2024/09358-0), which investigates the role of legal and regulatory frameworks in shaping international economic relations. This repository is intended to promote transparency, reproducibility, and the reuse of documentary evidence for future research on international trade law, global economic governance, and WTO reform
