Chemical Analysis of the Bilav Aluminum Sulphate Rock
Aluminum rocks are widespread in the Earth's crust, but aluminum rarely forms deposits in the form of ores. The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is one of such rare regions, where aluminum sulfate has an outlet to the Earth's surface in the Zaylik gorge near Bilev village in Ordubad district. Initial analyses indicate that the content of aluminum sulfate in the rock ranges between 46.8% and 52%. In this study, the composition of the Bilav aluminum rock was examined using chemical and physicochemical analysis methods. It was determined that the primary constituent of the rock is aluminum sulfate, alongside impurities such as sand, clay, water, limestone, and iron. The work details the structural, thermal, and solubility characteristics of potassium-aluminum alum and the laboratory procedures used to separate aluminum sulfate and evaluate the exact content of $Al$, $Fe$, $Na$, $K$, $SO_{4}^{2-}$, $SiO_{2}$, and $CaCO_{3}$.
