Morang's Dhanpalthan Archaeological Site: Historical Evidence, Kirat Civilization and Rethinking Historiography
Dhanpalthan (erstwhile Kadmaha Village Development Committee) is an important archaeological and cultural site in Morang District in the eastern Terai of Nepal. This research article presents an objective analysis of the accidental excavations, studies and archaeological discoveries carried out so far in Dhanpalthan. This article presents a critical perspective on how the relationship between the Eastern Terai and Kirat civilization is explained in historiography and how the physical evidence found at Dhanpalthan (ancient bricks, pottery, metal tools and archaeological structures) confirms the local historical continuity.
