Paleolibertarianism as a Negation of Self-Ownership
Abstract Paleolibertarianism maintains that Christianity is its inherent moral foundation, implying that one cannot be a libertarian without upholding Christian morality. However, this thesis is untenable. Christianity is a moral system that denies individual liberty by rejecting the libertarian axiom of individual self-ownership. Therefore, if paleolibertarianism does not accept the validity of the libertarian axiom of absolute self-ownership, one can only conclude that it is nothing more than statist conservatism, that is, a collectivist ideology that cannot be classified as libertarian. Finally, it is shown that paleolibertarianism strategically employs libertarian ideology to promote the fragmentation of large states into multiple micro-states, all with the aim of establishing monarchies legitimized by theocratic political constitutions.
