Separating Myth from Reality: Qualitative Findings from an Evaluation of the End Gang Life Campaign
Gang violence is a concern in British Columbia, Canada, with many recent initiatives targeting gang prevention for youth. The current study used qualitative survey response data from an evaluation of End Gang Life, a campaign providing single-session programming to schools. Responses from 975 students were analyzed to examine campaign recall, comprehension, and satisfaction. Results suggest that students recalled key messages from posters and understood presentation learning outcomes. Most students enjoyed the graphic posters and engaging presentations; however, some suggested a more tailored approach highlighting gang resistance. Results emphasize the value of youth insights in strengthening school-based gang prevention efforts.
