Encouraging Private Investment in Somalia's Renewable Energy Sector Policy Priorities and Strategic Actions
This policy brief examines the role of private investment in accelerating Somalia’s renewable energy transition and achieving sustainable energy development. It highlights key challenges affecting investment, including regulatory uncertainty, limited access to finance, infrastructure constraints, institutional capacity gaps, and investment risks. The brief proposes strategic policy actions to create an enabling investment environment through stronger regulations, innovative financing mechanisms, public-private partnerships, and improved institutional capacity. By promoting renewable energy investment, Somalia can enhance energy access, reduce electricity costs, strengthen energy security, create employment opportunities, and support long-term economic and environmental sustainability
