Data Thread Methodology
The Data Thread Methodology, a comprehensive methodological framework for the detailed mapping of business processes and data movements within the scope of Digital Transformation and Digitalization initiatives, has been developed. The Data Thread Methodology is founded upon the concept of the Data Thread, which was newly derived from the logic of the Digital Thread and redefined with a more concrete interpretation. To enable the practical implementation of the Data Thread concept, the principles of process workflow and data mapping were integrated. As a result of this integration, two fundamental mapping concepts were established. The first is the Data Thread Map, a mapping approach that represents the lifecycle of data by illustrating its uninterrupted flow across the relevant organizational units. The second is the Process Thread Map, which was developed not only to map data but also to comprehensively model business processes. To capture the detailed characteristics of each process, the 5W1H method was incorporated into the mapping approach, resulting in the Process Thread Map concept. The Data Thread Methodology defines the standardized and rule-based approach for constructing these two mapping types.
