Nonlinear dynamic behavior of a thick FG-CNT cylindrical shell with a shape memory polymer matrix subjected to blast loads

A nonlinear dynamic study based on three-dimensional green strain tensor in the cylindrical coordinate system for a thick FG-CNT cylindrical shell with a shape memory polymer (SMP) matrix subjected to blast loads is presented, theoretically. According to three-dimensional elasticity, the equations of motion are derived and solved by Implicit Euler’s theory, Newton’s iteration method and differential quadrature-method (DQM) in the cylindrical coordinate system. The results of linear as well as nonlinear solutions are presented and compared to those obtained by FEM. The results indicate that, unlike the linear solution, the results of the nonlinear solution have a very good agreement with those obtained by FEM. Moreover, the effects of mechanical properties of SMP, the environmental temperature, the angle of arrangement of FG-CNT fibers in SMP and the geometrical dimensions of the shell on stress components, displacement and velocity were calculated. The results show that increasing the environmental temperature leads to a decrease in stress components. Moreover, increasing modulus of elasticity, the glass temperature and the constant value of SMP lead to an increase in stress components.
