The Nature of Bayan: Between Innate Capacity and Acquired Mastery
This paper is the third part of a research program on oral communicative capacity. It examines the long-standing question of whether Bayan (eloquent human communication) is an innate inclination or an acquired mastery. The paper proposes that Bayan is best understood through two complementary dimensions: • Science of Bayan — a structured, learnable cognitive architecture including input, internal representation, meaning transformation, expression selection, output, feedback, and adaptation. • Art of Bayan — the situated, experiential dimension of communication involving timing, presence, judgment, and contextual performance. Rather than treating the question as a binary opposition, the paper concludes with The Balance, presented as an invitation to dialogue rather than a final resolution. This work extends the theoretical framework introduced in the previous paper "Compensation Without Recovery" and contributes to the broader Theory of Bayan research program.
