Developing Content Acquisition Podcasts to Enhance School Administrators’ Support for Adapted Physical Education

The purpose of this study was to explore school administrators’ perception of content acquisition podcasts (CAPs) that were developed to enhance knowledge of and support for adapted physical education (APE). Eighteen school administrators participated; twelve informed the creation of two, 10-minute CAPs, and nine engaged in follow-up interviews on their perception about the material. Using a modified collaborative qualitative analysis, three themes were identified. First, the CAPs mainly served as a knowledge refresher, leaving the administrators’ deeply held beliefs about integration unchanged. Still, the CAPs prompted reflection in administrators’ positioning of and support for APE. Finally, the accessibility and convenience of the podcast format both facilitated and hindered participants’ professional learning. Findings suggest the need for further targeted interventions tailored to school administrators, with the CAPs’ accessibility serving as a valuable gateway to deeper professional learning.
