Cold abscess of the semimembranosus and adductor magnus muscles treated with homoeopathy: A case report
A cold abscess is characterized by the absence of acute inflammatory signs such as redness, heat, and marked tenderness, and is commonly associated with chronic infections. Homoeopathy plays a significant role in managing suppurative conditions by enhancing the body’s natural healing response. This case report highlights the management of a cold abscess with individualized homoeopathic treatment, an area with limited documented evidence in homoeopathic literature. A 30-year-old male presented with a mildly painful swelling over the posterior aspect of the right thigh for 20–25 days, which later discharged thick, yellow, lumpy, cheesy material. Clinical examination revealed no redness, heat, or tenderness, confirming the diagnosis of a cold abscess. After detailed case-taking and evaluation of the totality of symptoms, the indicated homoeopathic similimum was prescribed. Significant improvement was observed, with complete healing occurring within 12 days. This case demonstrates the importance of individualized homoeopathic prescribing and its potential role in the effective management of cold abscesses.
