The Indian film industry, commonly referred to as the 'cinema of India' and encompassing Hindi (Bollywood), Telugu (Tollywood), Tamil (Kollywood), Malayalam (Mollywood), and numerous other regional film industries, constitutes one of the most prolific and economically consequential creative sectors in the world. With a total economic contribution of USD 61.2 billion in 2024 and a gross box office of ₹13,395 crore in 2025, the Indian film industry is a singular example of the fusion of artistic expression, cultural variety, and business activity. Using empirical case studies from Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), RRR (2022), Stree 2 (2024), and Manjummel Boys (2024), this paper conduct a methodical analysis of the economics of Indian film production. It assesses the primary cost determinants of Indian filmmaking, financing mechanisms, revenue diversification strategies, and the revolutionary effect of OTT platforms on industry economics. The analysis shows that multilingual market dynamics, star-driven audience behavior, changing digital consumption patterns, and other factors characterize Indian film production as a high-risk, high-reward company and the growing global appeal of regional Indian cinema
