Collatz as Binary Stress Recovery
This note introduces a public/scientific explanation of a CPD-based approach to theCollatz problem. CPD means viewing a system through the interaction of local drive, generated complexity, constraints, diffusion, and recovery. In the Collatz problem, the oddstep 3x + 1 is interpreted as binary acceleration plus carry-driven suffix diffusion, whiledivision by powers of two is interpreted as 2-adic pressure recovery. The main claim isnot that this note proves Collatz. The claim is that CPD provides a clear and technicallygrounded lens: possible escape requires sustained weak compression, but weak-compressioncorridors appear unstable because binary suffix diffusion transports orbits into pressure-gateresidue classes. This creates a testable proof strategy based on valuation words, binary suffixresidues, and escape-window collapse.
