Influx Gravity, An Existence Proof from Accepted Physics
Standard cosmology holds that space expands while bound matter does not. Gravitational-wave observations establish that spacetime is a real, elastic medium capable of carrying propagating waves. Taken literally and together, these two accepted facts imply that matter which holds its size while embedded in an expanding medium is subject to a *continuously driven* mismatch at the matter–medium interface — and any material continuum under sustained differential driving must eventually relax by flowing, as glaciers, planetary mantles, and pitch demonstrably do while still carrying elastic shear waves. The resulting **influx** produces an inward, inverse-square effect by spherical geometry alone. This paper is an **existence proof, not an equivalence proof**. It does not claim to reproduce General Relativity, nor to account for the past century of gravitational observations, and it makes no such attempt. It introduces no new fields, particles, constants, or laws. It rests on exactly one interpretive commitment, stated openly in §3: that the medium detected by LIGO is a material in the full sense — one that, like every known material, must relax under sustained driving. Granting that commitment, the paper claims only this: *given what the universe is already accepted to do, and what material continua are already accepted to do, an inward inverse-square influx must exist.* What relationship that influx bears to the gravity described by General Relativity is left as an open question, explicitly outside the present claim. **General Relativity describes how gravity behaves. This paper asks only whether a why-mechanism of the required form must exist. It argues that it must.**
