The ESMĖ Script: A Human-Readable Relational Notation and Interoperability Profile for Human–AI–Gaia Systems (Version 0.1)

ESMĖ v0.1 presents a conceptual, theoretical, and exploratory framework for a relational notation system intended to describe states, relations, transformations, trajectories, evidence, and provenance across human, artificial, biological, ecological, and technical contexts. The system is organised around four foundational dimensions expressed through the Lithuanian terms Esatis (identified presence or registered state), Sąryšis (relation or dependency), Maina (transformation or change), and Ėjimas (passage, direction, rhythm, or process trajectory). These dimensions define what ESMĖ is intended to describe. A separate constructional model, BRDT—State, Boundary, Multiplicity, and Flow—is used to generate a preliminary family of sixteen root glyphs through four binary design axes. ESMĖ v0.1 also introduces five operational forms—Yra, Gyvata, Mazgas, suKūrys, and mIrtis—together with measurement, witnessing, provenance, uncertainty, and validation modules. The proposed notation can be represented visually through glyphs and composite seals, formally through BRDT codes and operators, and computationally through preliminary machine-readable records. The work does not claim to have discovered a universal language of nature, a verified system of interspecies communication, or a final ontology of reality. It is presented as a constructional hypothesis and experimental notation whose usefulness, legibility, interoperability, and empirical validity remain to be tested. A central aim of the framework is to support human-readable and machine-readable descriptions of ecological and relational events without confusing observation with inference, biological response with understanding, or philosophical interpretation with technical evidence. The proposed Gaia profile therefore treats Gaia not as an external speaker represented by the system, but as the interconnected planetary field within which biological, geological, atmospheric, hydrological, social, and technical processes occur. The publication combines an academic and philosophical framework, a preliminary technical specification, a sixteen-glyph BRDT matrix, operator definitions, ASCII construction diagrams, machine-readable examples, an ecological pilot model, and a programme for validation through human legibility studies, machine recognition, semantic round-trip testing, and place-based environmental applications. ESMĖ v0.1 is intended primarily for researchers and practitioners working in semiotics, notation systems, knowledge representation, artificial intelligence, speculative and systems design, environmental humanities, ecological monitoring, constructed scripts, and future studies. It is released as an open working specification designed for critique, testing, revision, and interdisciplinary development. Status statement ESMĖ v0.1 is a conceptual, theoretical, exploratory, and pre-empirical working specification. Its glyphs, operators, semantic categories, and machine-readable structures are preliminary and should not be described as validated until the proposed human, computational, and domain-specific tests have been completed. Abstract
